Mild/Medium Chemical Peel Post-Care Instructions:
- Following a mild chemical peel, use a gentle cleanser and be sure to moisturize often! We offer many medical-grade skincare products that help alleviate discomfort and enhance your results. Some recommended options include SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Gel, ZO Health Hydrating Creme, SkinBetter Trio Moisturizer, and SkinCeuticals Epidermal Repair — ask your practitioner which product is best for you.
- Generally, non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) makeup may be applied after each mild chemical peel treatment.
- Avoid heavy exercise (sweating) for at least 24 hours after each chemical peel treatment.
- Avoid direct sun exposure; wear protective clothing (such as a wide-brimmed hat) and use a mineral sunscreen (containing titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide) with SPF 30 or higher daily.
- Do not use Retinoic Acid, Tretinoin, Retin-A, or any other Vitamin A product, including products that contain a retinoid or retinol, for 5 days after a chemical peel unless otherwise directed by your healthcare professional.
- Do not use other potentially irritating ingredients such as harsh exfoliating products that contain alpha hydroxy or beta hydroxy acids (AHAs like glycolic or lactic acid, or BHAs like salicylic acid) for 5 days after a chemical peel unless otherwise directed by your healthcare professional.
- If excessive irritation occurs, notify your practitioner and immediately discontinue the use of all skincare products until the skin has normalized.
- Facial hair should not be waxed after a chemical peel until the skin has normalized (7+ days). You may resume facial shaving 48–72 hours after a mild chemical peel or when the skin has normalized.
- Avoid the use of heat sources on your face such as steam, saunas, or professional/home hairdryers for 48 hours following a chemical peel treatment.
- You may schedule mild chemical peels every 4–6 weeks.
