Revived Medical Aesthetics

By Jenn, Medical Aesthetician at Revived Medical Aesthetics

As a medical aesthetician at Revived Medical Aesthetics, one of the biggest things I educate my clients on is what happens after their treatment. The procedure itself is only part of the result the healing phase is where the real transformation really takes place.

And what you use on your skin during that time? It matters more than most people realize.

After treatments like laser resurfacing, microneedling, chemical peels, or IPL, your skin is in a compromised and vulnerable state. We’ve created controlled trauma to stimulate collagen, improve tone, and target specific concerns but now your skin needs the right support to repair itself properly.

This is where medical-grade skincare becomes essential.

Unlike over-the-counter products, medical-grade skincare is formulated to penetrate deeper into the skin and is backed by clinical research. These products are designed to support true skin function helping your skin heal, rebuild, and come back stronger not just temporarily hydrate the surface.

Immediately following a procedure, your skin barrier is weakened. Think of your barrier as your skin’s natural shield—it protects against bacteria, irritation, and moisture loss. When that barrier is disrupted, your skin is more reactive, more sensitive, and more prone to complications if not cared for correctly.

Using the wrong products even ones labeled “clean” or “gentle” can lead to:

• Increased irritation and redness

• Delayed healing

• Breakouts or congestion

• Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

• Compromised or less effective results

Medical-grade skincare helps guide your skin through the healing process safely and effectively. It works with the treatment you just received, not against it.

With the right post-care, you can:

• Support faster, more controlled healing

• Calm inflammation and visibly reduce redness

• Strengthen and repair the skin barrier

• Boost collagen response and overall results

• Maintain your results longer

At Revived Medical Aesthetics, I carefully customize post-care protocols based on each client’s skin type, treatment, and goals. I work with trusted medical-grade lines like SkinCeuticals, Alastin, and Plated products that are specifically designed to support healing, recovery, and long-term skin health.

In the first few days after your treatment, less is more but theright products make all the difference. This is where targeted ingredients like growth factors, peptides, antioxidants, and barrier-repair hydrators play a huge role in how your skin responds and recovers.

What to Avoid After Your Treatment

One of the most common mistakes I see is clients going home and using products that are too active, too harsh, or simply not appropriate for healing skin. After a procedure, you want to avoid:

• Retinols or tretinoin

• Exfoliating acids (glycolic, salicylic, lactic)

• Scrubs or anything abrasive

• Fragrance-heavy products

• Over-layering too many products

Your skin doesn’t need to be overwhelmed it needs to be supported.

I always tell my clients don’t invest in your skin and then go home and use products that aren’t designed to support the work we just did. Your treatments and your skincare should work together to give you the best outcome possible.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about what happens in the treatment room it’s about how you care for your skin after.

And that’s where the results are truly made.
