Before Your Appointment
To get the most out of your treatment, please keep the following in mind in the weeks leading up to your session. Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning beds, self-tanners, and bronzing products for a minimum of two weeks before, during, and after your treatment course. If sun exposure is unavoidable, make sure to apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to the treatment area. The day before your appointment, shave the area being treated — this allows the laser to effectively reach the hair follicle beneath the skin. If you need help shaving or are unable to do so, give us a call or text at 717-539-3948 and we can assist, though additional time and fees may apply. You should also pause any topical retinoid products on the treatment area at least 5 days before your session.
Medical History & Contraindications
Your safety is our priority. Please let your technician know before your appointment if any of the following apply to you:
- You have a history of herpes or cold sores
- You have recently received dermal fillers, neuromodulator injections, or other cosmetic treatments in the area. A 12-week wait is required before laser treatment
- You have taken Accutane; a minimum 6-month wait after stopping the medication is required
- You have melasma in the treatment area
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
What to Expect During Your Treatment
Your session will be performed by one of our certified practitioners in a comfortable, private setting. Most clients describe the sensation as a mild snapping feeling, similar to a light rubber band against the skin, and find the treatment very tolerable from start to finish. We prioritize your comfort, making us a top provider for laser hair removal in Camp Hill, Harrisburg, Hershey, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Reading, York, and Lancaster.
Aftercare instructions
- Some redness and swelling immediately following your treatment is completely normal and typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours. In some cases, minor blistering may occur.
- Treat the area gently during the healing process. Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking at the skin. If any crusting develops, allow it to fall off naturally and keep the area moisturized.
- Pat the area dry rather than rubbing, and avoid shaving over any areas where swelling, crusting, or scabbing is present.
- If swelling occurs, apply an ice pack wrapped in a soft cloth to the area. Acetaminophen can help relieve any discomfort or stinging.
- You may resume your normal skincare routine, including makeup, moisturizer, deodorant, and shaving, the day after treatment, provided there is no redness, blistering, or crusting. When applying or removing makeup, be gentle to avoid opening the treated area.
- Give your body a rest from intense physical activity and exercise for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment, or until any redness, crusting, or blisters have fully resolved.
- If you notice any signs of infection such as unusual tenderness, discharge, or fever, please contact our office right away.
